Route 6 km

The gentle escape

Discover an accessible canoe route on the Leyre through the heart of the gallery forest.

Your experience

A day that is easy to organise.

An accessible first descent, cool and contemplative. Shuttle, canoe or kayak, paddles and buoyancy aids are included. You leave your car at the finish, the shuttle takes you to the start, and you paddle back to your vehicle.

Limited shuttle seats

If the shuttle is full

Minibus seats are limited. When none are left, you choose how to reach the start — either way your car waits for you at Pont de Moustey and the minibus brings drivers back at the end of the trip.

Go straight to the start

Make your own way to Pont de Moustey, where we meet you with the equipment.

In that case, give each participant's buoyancy aid size when booking: we will not be able to fit you at the base.

What to bring

Shoes that stay on your feet and can get wet, sun protection and water. Leave a change of clothes in the car and keep your phone and documents in a dry bag.

How the shuttle works

You meet at the finish point and leave your car there. The shuttle drives you to the launch point, and you paddle back down to your vehicle.

On the river

The Leyre is calm with no technical difficulty, and a briefing is given before launching. Sandbanks invite you to stop : take your litter with you, the river crosses a regional nature park.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions

How long does it take to walk the 6 km from Moustey to Saugnac?

You should allow around 2 hours for this section, or 2 hours 15 minutes depending on your pace. This is the easiest route for a first trip down the Leyre or for an outing with young children.

Where is the meeting point for this walk?

At the Pont de Saugnacq bridge in Saugnac-et-Muret, right at the finish point. You park your car there, the shuttle bus takes you to the embarkation point in Moustey, and then you travel down the river back to your car.

Can children take part in this canoe trip?

Yes, there is no minimum age requirement, although the ride is recommended for children aged 5 and over. Being able to swim is the only entry requirement, and the price is €10 for children up to and including 10 years of age.

What are the start times for the 6 km race?

There are six appointment slots available: 9.45 am, 11.15 am, 12.15 pm, 2.00 pm, 3.00 pm and 4.00 pm. You must book in advance; we cannot admit anyone without a booked slot.
