For your canoe trip on the Leyre, set off from Belin-Béliet on self-guided routes ranging from 6 to 20 km, suitable for children aged 5 and over. The shuttle service, lifejacket, paddles and waterproof container are included in all our packages, starting from €20 per adult and €10 for children up to the age of 10.

Kayak and canoe hire allows you to explore the Leyre at your own pace on routes of 6, 13 or 20 km. The trip is suitable for children aged 5 and over, provided they can swim, and includes all the necessary equipment as well as the shuttle bus to take you back to your starting point.

A calm river, a forest over the water.
The Leyre rises in the Landes and reaches Arcachon Bay after more than 90 kilometres under the forest canopy. Between Moustey, Saugnac and Belin-Béliet it is a class I river: a current that carries the boat, no rapids, meanders, sandbanks and amber-coloured water. It is southern Gironde’s river for a canoe or kayak descent, 45 minutes from Bordeaux and half an hour from Arcachon Bay and Biscarrosse.
More about the Leyre and our descents
Three routes, one base. The 6 km is the discovery route: about two hours on the water from the Pont de Saugnacq. The 13 km, as a half day or a full day, is our most popular route. The 20 km links Moustey to Belin-Béliet and takes the whole day. The 13 and 20 km departures leave from our base at 89 route de Bayonne in Belin-Béliet; the shuttle, buoyancy aid, paddle and dry barrel are included in every option.
Who it is for. You must be able to swim; no canoeing experience is needed. Children ride in an adult’s boat. Families, groups of friends, school parties, companies: if you are unsure, call us and we will recommend the right route.
When. The season runs from spring to the end of October. July and August book up several days ahead; spring and September offer an almost empty river. Rain does not stop us paddling; only a water level that is too high leads us to move a departure, and we let you know beforehand.
A protected valley. The Leyre flows through the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park: wooded banks, herons, kingfishers, and a silence you will not find anywhere else this close to Bordeaux.

What an absolute fantastic, peaceful experience!! Guillaume arrived early to collect us to take us to the launch site where he explained all the safety procedures to us as well as instructions what to do at the end. 20km seemed a lot even with some experience, but we were surprised how we progressed. Navigating all the fallen trees is like playing on an obstacle course & great fun. Haven't seen a soul all day, only 3 grey wagtails flying and playing for 20km in front of us. It felt like being back in time a few hundred years.
