Choosing the right distance

The question is not your fitness but the time you have. The 6 km takes about two hours and leaves the day free: it is the format for first trips and children. The 13 km takes half a day or a full day depending on the departure time. The 20 km is a real day on the water, to book when the river is the main plan. None of these routes requires paddling experience: the Leyre is a calm river with no rapids or technical difficulty. Being able to swim, and at least one adult in the group.

Two meeting points, not to be confused

The 6 km route starts at Pont de Saugnacq. The 13 and 20 km routes start from our base at 89 route de Bayonne in Belin-Béliet. This is the most common mistake: following the name of the route rather than the address on the confirmation. Each page gives a direct link to Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze and OpenStreetMap. At the end, a shuttle takes you back to your vehicle: you do not have to organise the return.

No artificial local pages

Each guide answers a different situation, keeps the real meeting points and links to the catalogue availability. A town is only mentioned when it helps to organise your visit.

What to bring

Clothes that can get wet, shoes that stay on your feet — no flip-flops —, water, a cap and sunscreen. We provide a buoyancy aid in everyone’s size, the paddle and a dry barrel for your belongings. Leave anything that fears water in the car. On the 13 and 20 km routes, bring a picnic: the sandy banks offer many places to stop. Children from six years old sit in the middle seat of a canoe, between two adults.

The Leyre, a protected river

The Leyre flows through the Landes de Gascogne regional nature park: navigation is free but regulated. You only land on sandy beaches, never in the bank vegetation, you leave nothing behind and you respect the silence of the gallery forest, home to the otter and the European mink. Our guides point out the stretches where these rules matter most.
