Located 30 minutes from Biscarrosse, you can go canoeing down the Leyre on routes of 6 km, 13 km or 20 km, lasting from 2 hours to a full day, from €20 per adult and €10 per child.
01
Discover a more hidden landscape
The river winds its way beneath the trees and sets a different pace to that of large bodies of water. This outing offers a change of pace during a stay in Biscarrosse, Parentis-en-Born or Sanguinet, without promising an experience identical to that of a lake. Allow around 35 to 45 minutes’ drive, depending on your starting point.
02
Adjust the distance to suit the group
If you’re a family or a first-time participant, start by checking out the 6 km route and its timings. The 13 km route involves a longer time in the water. The 20 km route requires you to set aside the whole day and to come prepared with a plan that takes into account the physical effort involved and the forecast conditions.
03
Check the exact appointment time
Moustey, Saugnac and Belin-Béliet are approached differently depending on the descent. Don’t just follow the name of the route: use the navigation button on the booking confirmation page and the instructions you received after confirmation.
04
What the river demands, what the lake does not
On a lake, you can return to the starting point whenever you like. On the Leyre, the route is one-way: once you’ve set off, you head straight to the finish, where the shuttle bus will collect you. This changes how you need to prepare. Bring some water, a cap and something to protect your mobile phone. Make sure you wear shoes that can get wet: there are a few shallow sections where you may need to step into the water.
