01
The shortest journey of all
The Ô’fil de Leyre base is situated at 89 Route de Bayonne, in Belin-Béliet, about fifteen minutes from Salles. It is probably the nearest starting point for a guided descent of the Leyre. This proximity changes the way the day is organised: setting off in the late morning is still an option without having to wake everyone up at the crack of dawn.
02
A possible half-day outing
When the journey doesn’t take an hour, the shorter route becomes an attractive option again. The 6 km route takes around 2 hours 15 minutes on the water and leaves the afternoon free. The half-day 13 km route sets off at 1.15 pm and leaves the morning free. Local residents are the ones who benefit most from these time slots, which are often less popular than the midday departures.
03
Discovering the river in a different way
Seen from the riverbank, the Leyre appears narrow and unassuming. Seen from a canoe, it becomes a continuous corridor beneath the gallery forest, with sandbanks, meanders and wildlife that is much more visible than when on foot. It is the same river, but the experience is quite different.
